Land was reclaimed on Shiraishi-jima Island during the Edo Period and large amounts of cotton were grown on it. It is now grown in the garden of a former elementary school.
Best time to see: Flowers: mid- to late August; Cotton balls: late August to early October

Access

From the Sumiyoshi Boarding Dock at Kasaoka Port, take the regular passenger vessel (Sanyo Kisen) and travel 22 minutes (high-speed ship) to Shiraishi Port.
It takes 40 minutes from Fushigoe Port to Shiraishi Port by ferry.
