Gravesite of the Manabe Family
There is a group of five-level stone pagodas made of tuff (some of them are Hokyoin pagodas) at the graveyard of Manabeshima Iwatsubo. They reflect the style of each of the eras in the 400 years from the end of the Heian period to the end of the Warring States Period. It is said that they form the gravesite of generations of the Manabe family. It was believed that originally there were 62 pagodas, but today that is difficult to confirm because they are altogether in one place.
In 1958, they were designated as an Important Cultural Property of the city (stone artwork).
