Manabe-shima Island
Manabe-shima Junior High School
The wooden school buildings for many Japanese bring back fond memories of their past.

The wooden school was built in 1949 and is still in operation today. Many come to see the nostalgic atmosphere of the school and it is well known as a sightseeing sport. Its rustic exterior was used as a backdrop for the Japanese motion picture “MacArthur’s Children." Situated on a hill, the school blends in with the scenery and atmosphere of Manabe-shima Island, and will add a particularly memorable experience to a trip to the island.

Corridors
The wooden corridors conjure up memories from long ago. The amber colored wood helps you to “feel" the passage of time. It is as if you have been transported back in time.

View from Windows
This is the view of a fishing village from Manabe Junior High School which is located on high ground. The exquisite view extends as far as the rooves of houses and the ocean. The view is particularly beautiful on a clear day.

Nostalgic Classroom Nameboards
These black wooden nameboards with whiter lettering have been in use since long ago. They lend an air of character to the entire atmosphere.
